Finally An App Allowing You To Take All Your Movies With You – Movies Anywhere!
Buying digital copies has been around for a while, but managing your libraries across Google Play, iTunes and Amazon and VUDU has been a thorn in the eye of many a film lover. Now the clutter and chaos is over, as you can install one single app to manage all your movies – Movies Anywhere has been launched!
Oh and it’s completely free! Looks like a bunch of the big studios have come to their senses and decided to join us in the 21st century digital revolution. All their movies will now be watchable through Movies Anywhere, regardless of whether you bought it from Google Play, iTunes, Amazon, or VUDU.
The idea had sprung out with Disney’s Movies Anywhere, which had launched a few years back but was limited to just Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar flicks. Now, the new expanded app also includes movies from Sony, 20th Century Fox, Universal, and Warner Brothers. That’s a lot of movies! But it could be more if Paramount and Lionsgate would join in. For now, they’re the only big guys not showing their cards.
Once an account is created, any movie you buy from one of the five major studios will show up in the Movies Anywhere app, available on Android, iOS, Roku, and basically any streaming device available on the market today. It’s expected to massively improve library compatibility with a wide array of devices.
This means that you could possibly watch your iTunes bought movie even on Android devices. An act almost unheard of! That’s the power of cross-platform, and the power of unity when the big guys decide to unite.
But seriously, it’s more a matter of money, since studios have been having a tough time with declining cinema ticket sales. It was about time they woke up to meet the demands of their audience. Either that, or their wallets were starting to thin out, prompting a quick and efficient response.
